Hope Floats 04:54
So, do you miss me? Can you see me, are you listening now? Can't you feel me, I'm still breathing! So, do you miss me? Can you see me, are you listening now? Can't you feel me, I'm still breathing? I'm just waiting around. I'm still waiting around...only for you my love. So, did you see me? I was waving, I was guiding you in. Can't you hear me...I'm still screaming. So, did you see me? I was waving, I was guiding you in. Can't you hear me...I'm still screaming! I was chasing your plane. I was tracing your plane...only for you my love. And tides they rush and fall. Stranding everyone, and island's not a home. But the sea needs to eat, drowning everyone. Who is not strong...strong enough, I'm strong enough. Only for you my love. Hope floats before your leave, but an island is not a home. Hope floats before you leap, but and island is not a home...

The Bruise 03:47
Won't you tell me does it hurt...when they push the bruise in? Would you tell me where it hurts? It's almost over. Will you tell me when it hurts? I know it's not your shoulder. Can you tell me, are you hurt? I'm here and listening. Scars don't fade. They lie and wait...they hate. What's the point in it? Won't you tell me does it burn? You're never called your name. Would you tell me where it burns? You're loosing color. Will you tell me when it burns? Our time is getting shorter. Can you tell me are your burnt? I'm here and listening. Hearts do ache, they're made that way...they break. What's the sport in it? No, no you don't have to touch me...I'll be alright. Don't think it's something you owe me...I'll be alright. Before long, you won't know me. I'll be just fine. I'll be just fine. I'll be just fine. Won't you tell me does it hurt...won't you tell me does it hurt...won't you tell me does it hurt? Hearts do ache, they're made that way...they break. What's the point in it?

Playing Dead 05:04
Playing dead today...it's the only way, that I could see you. This charade I staged, it's the only way that I could reach you. And I prayed you'd stay...that you'd look my way, and I could touch you. Is anybody out there? I've been waiting, waiting patiently. I've been hanging...hanging around for days. Watching time grow old like me. Hear these words I say, it was the only way that I could see you. Playing Dead today...it was the only way that I could reach you. And I prayed you'd stay. That you'd look my way, and I could touch you. Is anybody out there? I've been waiting...waiting patiently. I've been hanging, hanging around for days. Watching the time grow, old like me. I'd lie upon a hornet's nest for you. I'd lie upon a hornet's nest for you. I'd lie upon a hornet's nest for you...why do I bother?

Put your anger down. Lay it on the ground. Cut that hatred out, before it makes a sound. For my armour is underneath that tree. For my armour is underneath that tree. You're not a monster yet. Everybody feels less than nothing. You're not a monster yet. Everybody knows you've been suffering. You're not a monster yet...everybody knows. Ring it from it's neck. It's going to make you sick. Place it on the pyre, go on now light the fire. I wish my army was camped beneath your feet. I wish my army was camped beneath your feet. I don't want to know why you need it so lonely. I want to know...won't you let me go?

I bet you think there's something about you. Your innocence won't win you first today. I bet you think there's something about you. Your alligator's smile won't work on me. For your black heart, beats just like the stone thrown hard against my head. I bet you think there's something about you. Your lovely spider's web won't stick to me. I bet you think there's something about you. Your halo's coat cant hold up to the rain. For your heart wilts, slowly like the rose thrown underneath my bed. Yes, yes it's hard against my head (aches). It's hard to catch my breath...It aches, it aches, I ache.

The last surgeon sewed up my head. He couldn't risk an incident. His scar runs straight down my neck. It always left me wondering. Where do they go when they're dead? Those tiny voices swimming in my head. Where are you going my friend? My hydrophobia is setting in. I'm going to bring you down with me, when you put me out to sea. If no one feels it when they drown, will I hear you gasp? Long live the secrets we keep. They're just another short coming. An inch plus four is all that i need, just a place for exhaling. So how are you doing my friends? It's just a boor you're jettisoning. I'm going to bring you down with me, when you put me out to sea. If no one feels it when they drown, will I hear you gasp? You could burn it all down. Run this ship into ground, and wait for me. You could burn it all down. Run this ship into ground, and wait for me. You could burn it all down. Run this ship into ground, and wait for me...

about

“Victory at Sea”, the debut album from The Last Great Love, is a tale of love, loss, despair, and redemption, set as a series of remembered conversations told by a drowning man. Written as a complete work, the record pays tribute to the glory days of concept records and ‘Rock Operas’ from the 1960’s & 1970’s. Taking inspiration from such diverse influences as Pink Floyd, The Smiths, Catherine Wheel, and Beethoven, the record paints a sonic landscape with huge guitar tones, haunting melodies, staggering rhythms, and impassioned storytelling. By combining classic recording techniques and modern technology, this virgin release seeks to rewrite what a debut album can be.
